The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation awarded JBA and the Education Development Center the project Trauma-Informed Care: Connecting Research, Policy, and Practice to Build Resilience in Children and Families. The findings will improve outcomes for children, youth, and families by identifying successful approaches to build resilience.
The objectives are to improve the understanding of—

- The links between childhood trauma experiences and later misuse of opioids and other substances
- The psychological and biological pathways through which child trauma affects the development of severe emotional disturbances and serious mental illnesses
