Research and Continuous Quality Improvement Associate

Tyesha Gibbs AmersonTyesha Gibbs Amerson has more than 15 years of experience in maternal and child health, including early care and education and early intervention with children with special healthcare needs. She brings to JBA expertise in data and program evaluation, technical assistance, and continuous quality improvement (CQI). Special interests include evaluating the impact of housing instability on maternal health outcomes and assessing the development of children affected by prenatal substance use and opioid exposure.

At JBA, Amerson provides research and CQI support across practice areas. As part of the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Technical Assistance Resource Center, she guides awardees in building their capacity in performance measurement and CQI. She also conducts interviews/focus groups and analyzes qualitative data for such projects as Supporting and Strengthening the Home Visiting Workforce and Home Visiting Assessments of Implementation Quality.

Prior to joining JBA, Amerson worked as a home visitor, program supervisor, and program manager for the Alabama Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting awardee team. She received a B.A. in political science from Tuskegee University and an M.P.H. in maternal and child health policy and leadership from The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health.
