Project
Evaluating the Knowledge and Educational Needs of Students of Health Professions on Patient-Centered Outcomes Research
Patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) supports shared decision making, in which patients and families partner with clinicians to make informed health care decisions that acknowledge their values and preferences.
This project evaluated PCOR knowledge and education gaps among students training for careers in health care, including—
- Determining the extent to which students understood the importance and clinical applicability of PCOR
- Assessing the extent to which training curricula integrated PCOR
- Determining student preferences for receiving PCOR information
- Developing recommendations for educational and dissemination activities
