First Born and More Evaluation Technical Assistance
First Born and More is a locally developed, culturally responsive home visiting model implemented throughout New Mexico. The universal model serves families until a child turns 5, through a relationship-centered, curriculum-based approach.
Santa Fe Community College contracted with JBA to conduct an evaluability assessment of First Born and More. Project goals are twofold: The project team (1) collaborates with First Born and More staff to develop a research agenda to demonstrate how the model works to meet the needs of families and (2) provides technical assistance to support the model in pursuing that agenda.
Activities include—
- Developing a logic model and theory of change
- Recommending changes to enhance evaluation readiness
- Building a research agenda to communicate evaluation needs and staging, research questions, outcome measures, and data sources
