Home Visiting Assessments of Implementation Quality
Home visiting programs share a common goal of supporting families with young children. However, little is known about what high-quality home visiting looks like and what aspects of implementation quality correlate with stronger family outcomes.
Drivers of quality may also vary across levels of the home visiting system—for example, families, home visitors, communities—and across home visiting models.
This project builds on our earlier work with Child Trends developing a conceptual model of potential “implementation quality threads.” We are designing and leading a study that tests components of the model to assess relationships between implementation quality, service delivery, and child and family outcomes. We will disseminate actionable findings to the home visiting field.
Through engagement with home visiting participants and others who have been historically marginalized, diverse perspectives will help inform which threads to test, ground the study design in principles of equity and responsiveness to family needs, and enhance the study’s quality and rigor.
