The Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board coordinates the regional effort to expand the Indian Health Service Community Health Aide Program into Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
This effort involves sharing information about the program with tribal leadership and developing state-level training and certification pathways for two new classes of mid-level providers: community health aide providers and behavioral health aide providers.
Two advisory groups commissioned resources to illustrate the opportunity for these new health aide providers to contribute to the service landscape. These infographics contrast the new health aide providers with existing similar mid-level provider types, based on position requirements and allowable services.
